The fun and easy way to an obiedient pet

If you are like most pet owners and desire an obedient pet there is no better way to train your dog or cat (or bird or fish) than with clicker training. Even if you have a great pet and just want to teach your "old dog" new tricks, clicker training is the best way to train any animal.

What if you could have a well-trained dog, one that is obedient and fun and what if you could accomplish that in less than 20 minutes a day?

Does this sound a little too good to be true? Well, if you have had trouble training your dog in the past, perhaps it is because you are using the wrong methods. Perhaps it is because you are not the Alpha dog in your house or maybe you are not getting desired behavior because you are teaching your dog to misbehave. Clicker training with your pet can change all of this.

What is clicker training?

In technical terms, clicker training is operant conditioning, conditioning in which the desired behavior or increasingly closer approximations to it are followed by a rewarding or reinforcing stimulus.

In simple terms, clicker training is the use of a distinct sound (the clicker) to mark the exact moment that your pet is performing the desired action and then reinforcing that behavior.

Who can learn to clicker?

Anyone can learn to use the clicker training techniques! Adults and children of all ages can learn and benefit from learning to clicker train. It is easy. It is fun and most of all clicker training is effective!

Why use a clicker? Why not just say “Good Boy”?

The reason that, in clicker training, we use the “clicker” instead of a verbal marker is that it is almost impossible to effectively verbalize at the exact moment that the desired behavior is occurring. It is also impossible to say “good boy” the exact same way every time. The clicker produces a consistent audio marker at the exact moment that the behavior is occurring and that teaches your pet that what they were doing at that moment is worth repeating.
